About TopSPEC® Eimeria sp. qPCR KIT
Eimeria sp. is a genus of protozoan parasites that cause coccidiosis in pigs. This disease is characterized by intestinal infections, leading to symptoms such as diarrhea, weight loss, and poor growth performance. Eimeria sp. rarely infects neonatal pigs but is commonly found in older pigs and weaned piglets. Infection with Eimeria in pigs typically occurs through the ingestion of oocysts from contaminated environments. Once ingested, the parasite invades the epithelial cells of the small intestine, causing mucosal damage and impairing nutrient absorption. The severity of infection can vary depending on the Eimeria species involved, as well as the age and immune status of the host.
TopSPEC® Eimeria sp. qPCR Kit is a diagnostic kit designed to detect the presence of Eimeria sp. associated with coccidiosis in pigs using the qPCR technique. The kit utilizes a master mix containing UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase), which helps prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
