INTRODUCTION
Treponema pallidum (TP) is a Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the family Treponemataceae, and is the primary causative agent of syphilis and yaws in humans. Syphilis infections are frequently asymptomatic, which complicates accurate diagnosis and timely treatment. If left untreated, chronic infection can result in severe complications, particularly affecting the neurological and cardiovascular systems. In pregnant women, TP infection poses a significant risk of vertical transmission, potentially leading to neonatal conditions such as arthritis, blindness, deafness, and meningitis. Therefore, early screening and detection of syphilis are critically important.
TopSENSI® Treponema pallidum qPCR kit is used to detect the presence of Treponema pallidum The test is performed using Real-time PCR technology on DNA extracted from various human clinical specimens. The results obtained from this diagnostic kit are intended for clinical reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or exclusion of disease.
