INTRODUCTION
Neisseria gonorrhoeae is a Gram-negative bacterium that causes sexually transmitted infections in humans. NG infections are often asymptomatic, making accurate diagnosis and treatment challenging. If left untreated, prolonged infection can lead to serious complications such as infertility, urethritis in males, and cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease in females. In particular, NG infection during pregnancy is associated with increased risks of ectopic pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes, preterm birth, and arthritis. More critically, maternal NG infection may be transmitted to the newborn, resulting in neonatal pneumonia and conjunctivitis. Therefore, screening for NG in women before and after childbirth, as well as in neonates, is of utmost importance.
TopSENSI ® NG qPCR Kit is designed to detect the presence of DNA-NG (DNA-Neisseria gonorrhoeae) in samples extracted from various human specimens using real-time PCR technology. The test results provided by this diagnostic kit are intended for clinical reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or exclusion.
