Introduction to TopSPEC® Porcine Deltacoronavirus RT-qPCR KIT
Porcine deltacoronavirus (PDCoV) is a virus belonging to the genus Deltacoronavirus, family Coronaviridae. PDCoV is an RNA virus with a genome of approximately 25.4 - 31.7 kb encoding four different structural proteins, including spike (S), envelope (E), membrane (M), and nucleocapsid (N) proteins, as well as four non-structural proteins. Along with the porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), porcine respiratory coronavirus (PRCV), transmissible gastroenteritis virus (TGEV), and porcine hemagglutinating encephalomyelitis virus (PHEV), PDCoV is one of the five coronaviruses known to cause disease in pigs. Pigs with PDCoV diarrhea exhibit symptoms such as acute diarrhea, often accompanied by acute vomiting, dehydration, weight loss, emaciation, and death, which closely resemble the clinical signs of diarrhea caused by PEDV and TGEV. PDCoV causes diarrhea in pigs of all ages, especially piglets, and results in economic losses due to high infection and mortality rates and reduced weight gain.
TopSPEC® Porcine Deltacoronavirus RT-qPCR Kit is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of the Porcine deltacoronavirus - NSP7 gene – associated with diarrhea in pigs using the RT-qPCR technique. The kit utilizes a master mix containing UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase), which helps prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
