Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea (PED), an acute diarrhea disease in pigs, results from the invasion of the gastrointestinal tract by the virus, which attacks and impairs the digestive system's functionality. The virus causing the disease can persist in the farming environment and spreads through secretions and feces. Infected pigs exhibit symptoms such as bleeding, difficulty in digestion, vomiting, and diarrhea. The rapid transmission of the disease poses significant economic losses for livestock farmers.
TopSPEC® PEDV RT-qPCR Kit is a diagnostic assay designed to detect the presence of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) in pigs, using One-step RT-qPCR technology targeting the N gene. Early detection of the pathogen is essential for minimizing the economic losses associated with PEDV infection.
