About TopSPEC® Pasteurella multocida qPCR KIT
Pasteurella multocida is a Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the family Pasteurellaceae. It is the causative agent of hemorrhagic septicemia (HS), a highly fatal disease in pigs. Hemorrhagic septicemia can affect pigs of all ages but is most commonly observed in those between 3 and 6 months old. The pathogen primarily resides in the respiratory mucosa, and under adverse conditions—such as environmental changes or herd relocation—pigs may experience weakened immunity, allowing the bacteria to proliferate and cause disease.
TopSPEC® Pasteurella multocida qPCR Kit is a testing kit designed to detect the presence of Pasteurella multocida - KMT1 gene – associated with hemorrhagic septicemia in pigs using the qPCR technique. The kit utilizes a master mix containing UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase), which helps prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
