Classical Swine Fever (CSF), caused by the Classical Swine Fever Virus (CSFV), is one of the most highly contagious and economically devastating diseases. The disease typically manifests its initial symptoms 3-15 days after infection, with common signs including fever, skin lesions, and convulsions. Piglets infected with the disease may succumb to mortality within 15 days, especially when exposed to highly virulent strains of the virus. Therefore, early screening and diagnosis are crucial to prevent and minimize the damages caused by CSFV.
TopSPEC® CSFV RT-qPCR Kit is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of classical swine fever virus (CSFV) – specifically the 5’NTR gene – in pig populations and farming environments. Early detection of the pathogen helps reduce economic losses caused by the virus.
