About TopSPEC® Cryptosporidium spp. qPCR KIT
Cryptosporidium spp. is an opportunistic zoonotic parasite that commonly causes self-limiting diarrhea in humans and livestock. Cryptosporidium is typically found in the intestines of humans and animals and is transmitted via the fecal-oral route. Children, immunocompromised individuals, and newborn animals are among the groups susceptible to Cryptosporidiuminfection. Among the animals susceptible toị Cryptosporidium, pigs are considered one of the main reservoir hosts. Pigs with cryptosporidiosis are characterized by diarrhea, vomiting, dehydration, reduced daily gain, and a lower feed conversion rate.
TopSPEC® Cryptosporidium spp. qPCR Kit is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of the Cryptosporidium spp. – targeting the 18S gene responsible for causing coccidiosis in pigs using qPCR technique. The kit uses a master mix that includes UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase) to prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
