About TopSPEC® ASFV-MGF qPCR KIT

African swine fever virus (ASFV) is a highly pathogenic agent that poses a significant threat to the swine industry. Among its genetic components, the Multigene Family (MGF) genes encode proteins that suppress type I interferon responses, enabling the virus to evade the host immune system and replicate efficiently. These MGF genes are divided into two major regions: the right variable region (RVR) and the left variable region (LVR). Wild-type ASFV strains typically retain intact MGF regions and exhibit high virulence, whereas certain attenuated vaccine strains show deletions in one of these regions (RVR or LVR), resulting in reduced pathogenicity.

TopSPEC® ASFV-MGF qPCR Kit is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of MGF gene regions (RVR and LVR) in ASFV strains infecting pigs, using Real-time PCR technology.
