INTRODUCTION

Chlamydia trachomatis (CHT) is an obligate intracellular, Gram-negative bacterium that causes sexually transmitted infections in humans. In most cases, CHT infections are asymptomatic, making accurate diagnosis and treatment challenging. If left untreated, prolonged infection can lead to serious complications such as infertility, urethritis in males, and cervicitis or pelvic inflammatory disease in females. Particularly in pregnant women, CHT infection contributes to increased risks of ectopic pregnancy, premature rupture of membranes, preterm birth, and arthritis. More critically, maternal CHT infection may be transmitted to the newborn, resulting in neonatal pneumonia and conjunctivitis. Therefore, screening for CHT in women before and after childbirth, as well as in neonates, is of paramount importance.

TopSENSI® CHT qPCR Kit is designed to detect the presence of DNA-CHT in samples extracted from various human specimens using real-time PCR technology. The test results provided by this diagnostic kit are intended for clinical reference only and should not be used as the sole basis for diagnosis or exclusion.
