About TopSPEC® Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae qPCR KIT

The bacterium Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) is one of the primary causes of pneumonia and pleuritis in pigs of all ages worldwide. In its acute form, pneumonia and pleuritis caused by APP can result in sudden death. The primary transmission routes include direct pig-to-pig contact and indirect airborne spread. The disease frequently occurs in weaned pigs, growing pigs, and those experiencing environmental or physiological transitions (seasonal changes, physiological stress) in poor housing conditions. The infection rate can reach up to 40%, with a mortality rate of approximately 20%.

TopSPEC® Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae qPCR Kit is a testing kit designed to detect the presence of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae - omlA gene – associated with pleuropneumonia in pigs using the qPCR technique. The kit utilizes a master mix containing UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase), which helps prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
