Introduction to TopSPEC® Haemophilus parasuis qPCR KIT

Haemophilus parasuis (HPS) is a Gram-negative bacillus belonging to the family Pasteurellaceae and the genus Haemophilus. This bacterium is known as the causative agent of Glässer's disease, also referred to as polyserositis and polyarthritis in pigs, characterized by clinical symptoms such as fibrinous polyserositis, polyarthritis, meningitis, and pericarditis in piglets aged 4 to 6 weeks. HPS is a leading cause of mortality in piglets of this age group, particularly when subjected to stressors such as weaning and transportation, in poor sanitary conditions, or in animals with weakened immune systems or primary infections with immunosuppressive pathogens such as classical swine fever virus, PRRS virus, PCV2, and Mycoplasma hyopneumoniae.

TopSPEC® Haemophilus parasuis qPCR Kit is a testing kit designed to detect the presence of Haemophilus parasuis - nfB gene – associated with Glässer’s disease in pigs using the qPCR technique. The kit utilizes a master mix containing UNG (Uracil-N-Glycosylase), which helps prevent cross-contamination from previous PCR products.
