White spot is a disease with a fast spread rate causing great loss to the aquaculture and seafood industry. White spot syndrome virus (WSSV) infects many different types of crustaceans, especially shrimp. WSSV spread horizontally through the aquatic environment and the gastrointestinal tract of infected organisms in ponds. Simultaneously, WSSV also infects vertically from mother to juvenile. The mortality rate is high (80%) and it happens very quick, so early detection is very necessary.
