About TopSPEC® TiLV RT-qPCR Kit
Tilapia Lake Virus (TiLV) is an infectious pathogen that causes disease across all life stages of both farmed and wild tilapia. Clinical signs are generally nonspecific and include lethargy, anorexia, ocular alterations (such as corneal opacity, exophthalmia, and cloudiness), dermatological changes (erosions, hemorrhages, and darkened pigmentation), abdominal distension/ascites, and scale loss. TiLV can be detected in multiple organs, including the gills, spleen, anterior kidney, liver, brain, and heart. Transmission occurs both horizontally (via contact, mucus, feces, and water) and vertically (from broodstock to eggs or milt).
TopSPEC® TiLV RT-qPCR Kit is designed to detect the presence of Tilapia Lake Virus by targeting the hypothetical protein gene, which causes disease in tilapia, using RT-qPCR technology.
