Introduction
Japanese Encephalitis (JE) is not only a disease affecting humans but also occurs in various mammalian species, particularly livestock such as pigs, cattle, and buffaloes. Following viral entry into the body, it infiltrates the bloodstream and migrates to various organs. Ultimately, during the developmental stage, the JEV causes damage to the liver, kidneys, spleen, muscles, and, ultimately, the central nervous system. Infected hosts typically exhibit compromised immune systems. In particular, pregnant individuals infected with the virus may experience a significantly high rate of miscarriages. The disease is transmissible at any age, highlighting the importance of early detection as the most effective preventive measure for livestock breeders.
TopSPEC® JEV One-step RT-qPCR Kit is a testing kit designed to detect the presence of the Japanese Encephalitis Virus (JEV) - NS2A gene in herds and farm environments. Early detection of the pathogen helps in cost savings by mitigating losses incurred due to JEV.
