About TopSPEC® FHV qPCR KIT
Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) is a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Varicellovirus within the family Herpesviridae. It is recognized as a primary etiological agent of upper respiratory tract infections and keratitis in cats. Transmission occurs predominantly through direct contact with nasal, ocular, or oral secretions, as well as via respiratory droplets. Under ambient conditions, the virus can survive on surfaces for up to 1–2 days. Kittens under one year of age and immunologically naïve cats are particularly susceptible to severe disease. Following the acute phase, FHV may establish latency within neural ganglia and can be reactivated under conditions of stress or immunosuppression. Dogs are not susceptible to FHV infection and do not play a role in its transmission cycle.
TopSPEC ® FHV qPCR Kit is a testing kit designed to detect the presence of Feline Herpesvirus (FHV) in cats using Real-time PCR technology by targeting the UL27 geneEarly identification of the pathogen enables timely intervention, thereby mitigating the adverse effects associated with FHV infection.
