Giới thiệu TopSENSI ® Shigella qPCR Kit
Shigella are Gram-negative, non-motile, facultatively anaerobic bacilli that do not form spores. They are the causative agents of bacillary dysentery (with 25% of cases showing clear dysentery symptoms, 25% being asymptomatic, and the majority presenting with mild diarrhea, with a few chronic cases). In Vietnam, the most common Shigella pathogens are S. flexneri (61.5%) and S. sonnei (38.5%). Shigella outbreaks typically occur in densely populated areas with poor sanitation. Bacillary dysentery is very common in children, though adults can also contract the disease, usually with less severity. Shigella invades the mucosa of the colon, causing mucus secretion, congestion, leukocyte infiltration, edema, and often superficial mucosal ulceration. Shigella dysenteriae type 1 produces Shiga toxin, which causes diarrhea and sometimes hemolytic - uremic syndrome.
