INTRODUCTION
– White spot disease is caused by the virus that causes white spot syndrome (White Spot Syndrome Virus – WSSV). This is a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Nimaviridae family, with strong virulence, rapid spread and high mortality rate (80%).
- White spot disease caused by the White Spot Syndrome Virus (WSSV). This is a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Nimaviridae family, characterized by high virulence, rapid transmission, and a high mortality rate (80%).
– Microsporidiosis caused by a parasite Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei (EHP). Shrimp infected with microsporidiosis usually exhibit slow growth because the parasite resides in the hepatopancreas and absorbs the shrimp’s nutrients. Although the disease does not cause mass mortality, it leads to significant economic losses due to reduced yield.
– Early Mortality Syndrome – EMS, also known as Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease – AHPND, is caused by the bacteria Vibrio parahaemolyticus . They parasitize in the intestinal tract of shrimp and secrete toxins that cause the liver to swell or shrink, causing mass deaths in ponds.
TopSPEC® WSSV PCR KIT (TopSPEC® WSSV-EMS-EHP-Vibrio parahaemolyticus PCR KIT) is a diagnostic kit designed to detect the presence of WSSV/EMS/EHP and V.parahaemolyticus in shrimp samples using PCR technology. The kit offers outstanding advantages such as rapid testing time, high accuracy, a simple workflow, and the ability to detect multiple pathogens in a single reaction.

Result analysis
– After electrophoresis is completed, the results are visualized on a UV transilluminator or a gel documentation system equipped with UV light.
– 100bp DNA ladder used includes 10 lines from 100 to 1000 bp
– Expected results are as follows:
- Samples positive for WSSV: appears band with size 526 bp (between the 500 bp and 600 bp line).
- Samples positive for Vibrio parahemolyticus: appears band with size 438 bp (between the 400bp and 600 bp line)
- Sample positive for EMS: appears band with size 316bp (between 200bp and 300bp line)
- Samples positive for EHP: appears band with size 177bp (just below the 200 bp line)
- Internal control: appears band with size 102bp
