Introduction
Microsporidiosis and White Spot Disease are common diseases that cause significant losses in aquaculture, particularly in shrimp farming.
Microsporidiosis caused by the parasite Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei (EHP) Shrimp infected with microsporidiosis often exhibit slow growth because the parasite lives in the hepatopancreas and absorbs the shrimp’s nutrients. The disease does not cause mass mortality but still leads to significant economic losses due to reduced production.
White spot disease caused by the virus responsible for White Spot Syndrome (White Spot Syndrome Virus – WSSV). This is a double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the Nimaviridae family, characterized by high virulence, rapid transmission, and a mortality rate of up to 80%.
