About TopSPEC® V.parahaemolyticus/EHP PCR Kit
Early Mortality Syndrome (EMS) and microsporidiosis are significant challenges in shrimp aquaculture.
EMS, or Acute Hepatopancreatic Necrosis Disease (AHPND), is induced by Vibrio parahaemolyticus, which secretes toxins that impair the hepatopancreas, resulting in high mortality rates within shrimp populations.
– Microsporidiosis caused by a parasite Enterocytozoon Hepatopenaei (EHP) Shrimp infected with microsporidiosis often exhibit slow growth because the parasite lives in the hepatopancreas and absorbs the shrimp’s nutrients. The disease does not cause mass mortality but still leads to significant economic losses due to reduced production.
TopSPEC® V.parahaemolyticus/EHP PCR KIT is a diagnostic kit designed to detect the presence of EHP and V. paraheamolyticus in shrimp samples using PCR technology. The kit offers outstanding advantages such as rapid testing time, high accuracy, a simple procedure, and the ability to detect multiple pathogens within a single amplification reaction.

Result analysis
– After electrophoresis is completed, the results are visualized on a UV transilluminator or a gel documentation system equipped with UV light.
– 100bp DNA ladder used includes 10 lines from 100 to 1000 bp
– Expected results are as follows:
- A positive sample with Vibrio parahaemolyticus shows a band with a size of 438 bp (between the 400 bp and 600 bp markers).
- A positive sample with EHP (Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei) shows a band with a size of 177 bp (just below 200 bp).
- Internal control: appears band with size 102bp
