Influenza A/H1N1 , commonly referred to as swine flu, is believed to have originated from pigs. It is a highly contagious and potentially severe disease. The infection and mortality rates can be extremely high—reaching up to 100%—particularly in piglets aged 1 to 5 weeks. Swine influenza virus spreads through respiratory droplets and direct contact, with transmission occurring from infected livestock to humans and also between humans. Due to its rapid transmissibility and potential to cause widespread outbreaks, effective preventive and control measures are essential to mitigate the risk of an H1N1 epidemic.
TopSPEC ® H1N1 RT-qPCR Kit is a diagnostic kit designed to detect the presence of the influenza A/H1N1 virus - HA gene and NA gene in pigs, using RT-qPCR technology. Early detection of the pathogen is crucial for controlling and preventing the severe consequences induced by H1N1.
