Introduction
Viral Covert Mortality Disease – VCMD is caused by a type of Nodavirus – whose genetic material is positive single-stranded RNA – in the Nodaviridae family. The disease causes a significant reduction in shrimp production, leading to serious damage to the shrimp farming industry in China and many Southeast Asian countries. Shrimp infected with CMNV (Covert Mortality Nodavirus) often grow slowly, have soft bodies and shells, and have atrophied and necrotic hepatopancreas. Shrimp become lethargic and gradually die. The disease often occurs in the early stages after stocking with a mortality rate of up to 80%.
TopSPEC® CMNV One-step RT-qPCR Kit is a test kit that tests for the presence of the CMNV virus that causes mysterious mortality in shrimp using RT-qPCR technique. The kit has a simple process with high sensitivity and specificity to help detect pathogens quickly and promptly, helping to limit losses caused by diseases.
