Canine Distemper in dogs, is caused by the Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) which has a broad and rapid spreading nature. Once infected, the virus can lead to death within a few days. Canine distemper spreads rapidly through contact with nasal discharge, saliva, urine, and feces. Therefore, early detection of the pathogen is crucial to promptly prevent the spread of CDV within a population of dogs.
TopSPEC® CDV RT-qPCR Kit is a diagnostic tool designed to detect the presence of canine distemper virus (CDV) in whole blood or serum samples from dogs, using One-step RT-qPCR technology targeting the nucleocapsid protein (N) gene. Early detection of the pathogen is crucial for preventing the adverse consequences associated with CDV infection.
