Introduction to TopSENSI ® Human FluA/B RT-qPCR Kit

Influenza virus is a respiratory pathogen that commonly causes acute febrile illness known as influenza. Belonging to the Orthomyxoviridae family, influenza viruses can infect multiple hosts including humans, swine, and birds. Human influenza viruses are classified into three types—A, B, and C—based primarily on antigenic differences in their NP and M proteins. Among these, Influenza A and B viruses are the most common causes of seasonal influenza outbreaks in humans.

Influenza B Virus (IBV) typically circulates later in the season and accounts for approximately 15–30% of total influenza cases. Although the severity of illness caused by Influenza A and B is comparable, IBV does not cause pandemics. In contrast, Influenza A Virus (IAV) is often responsible for seasonal epidemics and pandemics due to frequent genetic mutations and reassortment among subtypes.

TopSENSI ® Human FluA/B RT-qPCR Kit is designed to detect the presence of IAV (M gene) and IBV (NP gene) associated with human seasonal influenza using the RT‑qPCR technique. The kit offers several outstanding advantages such as a simple and rapid workflow, high sensitivity, and high specificity. In particular, the kit employs an endogenous internal control (Human RNase P gene) to effectively monitor the processes of sample collection, RNA extraction, and RT‑qPCR.
