Introduction

Vibrio vulnificus is a Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the Vibrionaceae family, characterized by its motility, facultative anaerobic nature, and typically straight or slightly curved rod-shaped morphology. V. vulnificus is commonly found in estuarine and coastal regions, recognized as one of the causative agents of diseases in brackish and marine aquaculture. It is implicated in the occurrence of red-body syndrome and mass mortality in postlarval and zoea stages of giant tiger shrimp (M. rosenbergii). Therefore, early detection of the presence of this bacterium in aquaculture environments is essential to minimize the severe consequences it may cause.
