INTRODUCTION
Porcine parvovirus (PPV), also known as 'SMEDI syndrome' or 'wooden fetus disease', impairs reproductive performance in sows due to viral-induced embryonic death. The virus is shed in secretions and excretions, and is transmitted via respiratory or oral routes. Although boars typically show no clinical signs, infected males can transmit the virus to females through mating. While PPV infection is not usually fatal, it significantly affects reproductive health and neonatal outcomes.
TopSPEC® PPV qPCR Kit is a diagnostic assay designed to detect the presence of PPV, targeting the NS1 gene, which causes parvovirus disease in pigs, cattle, and horses, using Real-time PCR technology. Early detection of the pathogen is essential for minimizing the economic losses associated with PPV infection.
