Introduction to TopSPEC® Celery Detection Kit
Food allergies are among the most pressing health concerns worldwide. Symptoms after consuming allergens include digestive disorders (diarrhea, vomiting), respiratory issues (rhinitis and asthma), skin reactions (urticaria, atopic dermatitis), and even anaphylactic shock, posing significant threats to both children's and adults' health and lives. Therefore, developing analytical methods for detecting allergens is crucial.
Celery (Apium graveolens) is one of the most common allergens affecting adults. However, celery is widely used in the food industry, primarily in products such as dried spices, sauces, sausages, and convenience foods. This prevalence poses a significant risk to individuals with celery allergies, especially in cases of inadvertent consumption due to incorrect labeling. To provide better information to consumers and protect the health of those with food allergies, the TopSPEC® Celery Detection Kit employs Real-time PCR to detect celery allergens through target DNA identified in the mannitol dehydrogenase gene region.
