This bacterium is found in the mucous layer above the gastric epithelium, and it does not appear to invade the tissue. However, the lining beneath the <em>H. pylori<\/em> area is frequently inflamed, a condition known as chronic gastritis. If not diagnosed and detected in time, the disease can develop into gastritis, peptic ulcers, and stomach cancer, one of the most dangerous diseases affecting the digestive system.
