Introduction to TopSPEC® WSSV – MBV qPCR Kit
White spot disease caused by the virus responsible for White Spot Syndrome (White Spot Syndrome Virus – WSSV). This is a highly virulent, double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) virus, capable of causing up to 100% mortality in shrimp populations within 3 to 10 days post-onset of clinical symptoms. Due to its rapid horizontal and vertical transmission rates, WSSV poses a primary threat to aquaculture ponds.
Shrimp stunting disease is caused by MBV (Monodon Baculovirus), a circular double-stranded DNA virus. They specifically parasitize and damage the epithelial structure of the hepatopancreatic tubules. Although the direct mortality rate is low, MBV induces immunosuppression, leading to stunted growth, severe size disparity, and increased susceptibility to secondary bacterial infections.
TopSPEC® WSSV – MBV qPCR Kit facilitates the detection of WSSV (VP466 gene) and MBV (Hypothetical protein gene) in shrimp samples using qPCR technology. This kit serves as an optimized diagnostic tool for post-larvae quality control and early pathogen detection during the pre-clinical stage.
